Combining the obvious benefits of high accuracy positioning, with the significant time savings which the super fast SpeedLoc™ precision mounting system offers and the net result is quality machining at a throughput rate faster than virtually any other off-the-shelf system available today. Also available are high precision trunnion indexers engineered specifically for use on VMC equipment.

5 axis manual trunnion 250mm pallet indexed with customer table together with ball tool held by toolholder in spindle used together with an interpolation program from customer's mill.  $20,000.

Machine 5 sides of parts without the $70,000 to $100,000 investment into cnc 5 axis trunnions.

  • A sample program of the operation in the video can be supplied at your request. This is just for example and is not to be used as a solid program.
  • The set-up from the ball tool center and the center of the plunger is very important. If the alignment is off more than .030 there will or might be some binding which rough or no movement will occur.
  • What I did when programing the arc radius for rotating the indexers was, find the center of the indexers using a probe, indicator or edge finder and assigning that location to one fixture offset. I then found the center of the plunger, assigning that position to the next fixture offset. I then subtracted the two to find the arc radius needed for programing.
  • The length of the plunger that needs to be exposed from the plunger housing is .625” plus or minus.05”.

  • Remember that the indexer is only capable of 5 degree increments.
  • The feed rate in the movie was programed at 100 Inches per minute. I ran it as fast as 150 inches per minute. This is going to depend on the ability of your machine to move accurately in an arc.
  • The indexer components have been coated with Lubriplate grease but not filled. You could put a couple of pumps of grease a week or as needed. Indexer is sealed with O-rings, so do not over fill.
